- We all know that when charged particle interact a uniform magnetic field then path of charged will be change due to experiencing a force that force is called Lorentz force.
- Solar
flares and solar storms have a lot of charged particles and a lot of energy.
These are called CMEs. As they move towards the Earth, they first hit the
magnetosphere, which is made up of the Earth's magnetic field lines. When these
charged particles combine with the Earth's magnetic field lines, they become
plasma-like because of the Lorentz force. That is, electrons and ions get
redirected, and when they do, they go to the North Pole and South Pole and make
the Aurora. Because the charged particles are so powerful, they try to weaken
the Earth's magnetic field lines. When this happens, the magnetic field lines
twist into a pattern called the Van Allen radiation belts. This belt keeps us
safe from CMEs, galaxy storms, solar winds, geomagnetic storms, and solar
storms.
The
part of the Earth that is in front of the Sun makes a smaller area, so the area
of the Earth's magnetic field lines on this side gets smaller. This is because
the Sun is always doing things like CMEs, solar flares, and solar storms, which
makes this face of the Sun very big. Faces the charged particles, and the part
of the earth that is farthest from the sun faces fewer charged particles and
has a larger surface area. This means that the magnetic field lines on that
side of the earth get bigger and spread out more.
The
Van Allen belts change with the rotation of the Earth.
- At the pole more closely pack magnetic field lines are present so at that point strong M.F. are present.
- when very high energetic particles are coming towards the earth. then lower earth orbit and medium earth orbit satellites can safe under the van allen radiation belts. and living species are also safe under the van allen radiation belts.

- The discovery of the belts is credited to James van Allen, and as a result the earth's belts are known of the Van Allen Radiation Belts.
- Earth's two main belts extend from an altitude of about 500 to 58000 km above the surface in which particles region radiation levels vary. Most of the particles that form the belts are thought to come from solar wind and others particles by cosmic ray. By trapping the solar wind the M.F. deflects those energetic particles and protects the Earth's atmosphere from destruction .
